Why a TMA

The Clackamas Regional Center Transportation Management Association was formed subsequent to a feasibility study that took nearly two years to complete. Business leaders in the Clackamas Regional Center Area met on a regular basis to discuss the transportation issues in our area, prioritize them and develop a list of ranked, possible solutions.

A TMA is an employer based program to increase transportation opportunities within the TMA area. Some of the services that could be included are carpooling, shuttle bus and transit. A TMA would allow local business owners to work together to help reduce the commuting and parking impacts of their employees and customers by deciding on the types of traffic management and transportation services that should be provided in the Clackamas Regional Center Area. Some of the most effective TMA's are also helping businesses implement the Department of Environmental Quality's Employment Commute Option (ECO) rule. The ECO rule requires certain employers to reduce employee auto trips by 10 percent.
